Well, I started designing professionally in 1998 which was long before I even attended college. So I've been at this almost a decade. I started in Photoshop experimenting with the software I had from the new computer we just bought for Christmas. After that things took off and I started being intriqued in banner design, ad development, and corporate identities. I sold my services for very low rates on Ebay to get things going, get the experience, and build my portfolio. Very quickly, I got into website development to showcase some of my work.
Now here I am, many years later. I am constantly learning more software programs. Some software which I am comfortable with is Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Freehand, Corel Draw, and learning Maya. I also program exceptionally well in XHTML, CSS, and comfrotable with PHP, Javascript, MySql. Hopefully I will have enough time to learn AJAX soon.
The learning never stops because new software keeps coming out, but I love it. I think you need to have a passion for learning and designing to be in this industry because of its intensity. Over the years, I've worked with almost over six-hundred clients. Everyday when I wake up I start the day with designing. Somewhere throughout the week I manage to continue my Martial Arts training, teach self defense, play some sets of tennis, ride my bike, and hang out with friends.
